FAQ

Questions we get asked

Where is BLS Ecoboosts based?

Our workshop is at Willow Industries, Tyland Lane, Maidstone, ME14 3BN, in the Boxley and Sandling area of Maidstone, Kent, close to junction 6 of the M20.

What are your opening hours?

We’re open 8am to 4pm, Monday to Sunday, including weekends. Emergency callouts are available outside those hours.

Do you come to me, or do I bring the car to you?

Either. We can come to your home or workplace within 15 miles of Maidstone, including for bigger jobs such as wet belt replacement, as long as there’s safe, level space to work. Or you can drop the car at our Tyland Lane workshop and leave it with us for the day. A few jobs, such as clutches, need the ramp.

What areas do you cover?

We cover about 15 miles around Maidstone, including Aylesford, Bearsted, Chatham, Rochester, Gillingham, Snodland, West Malling, Kings Hill, Coxheath, Marden, Staplehurst, Headcorn, Lenham, Sittingbourne and Tonbridge. If you’re just outside that area, call and ask.

Do you offer emergency callouts?

Yes. If you’ve broken down or your car won’t start, call 07562 952575. We do emergency callouts, including outside normal hours, subject to availability.

How do I book?

Choose a service, say whether you want us to come to you or you’d rather drop the car off, then pick a time. Each job is given the hours it really needs - about three for a service, a full day for a wet belt - so you are only shown times long enough to do the work. Times run from 8am, any day of the week. You’ll get an email confirming your booking. If you need to change it, give us a call.

Can I wait with my car at the workshop?

Workshop bookings are drop-offs: you leave the car with us and we work on it during the day, between mobile jobs. That’s why the workshop and mobile diaries show different free times. If you need the car back by a certain time, say so when you book and we’ll tell you if it’s possible.

What is a Ford EcoBoost wet belt?

A wet belt is a timing belt that runs inside the engine oil, as on the Ford 1.0 EcoBoost. Over time it can wear and shed rubber into the oil, which can block the oil pickup and starve the engine of oil. Replacing it on time prevents very expensive engine damage.

How often should an EcoBoost wet belt be changed?

Ford’s interval depends on the model year, but belts often wear sooner than the schedule suggests, especially where oil changes were missed. We recommend an inspection from around 5–6 years or 60,000 miles, and replacement at any sign of wear.

Do you only work on Fords?

No. We specialise in Ford EcoBoost engines, but we service and repair most makes, including Vauxhall, VW, Audi, Renault, Peugeot and Citroën.

Will using an independent garage affect my warranty?

No. You can have your car serviced by an independent garage without affecting the manufacturer warranty, as long as the work follows the manufacturer schedule and uses parts and oil to the correct specification.

How much do your services cost?

Every car and job is different, so we quote each one individually. Call us, or book with your registration, and we’ll give you a clear price before any work starts. No surprises.

Can I see examples of your work?

Yes. Our gallery shows recent jobs, and we post regularly on Facebook and on Instagram (@blsecoboosts).
